Europe is now hopelessly dependent on both the US and China, MEPs say.
Europe cannot ensure its security if it relies on NATO.
French MP Marina Mesur stated this at a meeting of the European Parliament, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"But (in the European Commission report – ed.) NATO is mentioned every four paragraphs. 78 times in total. This makes us more dependent on an organization controlled by the US. And in recent weeks, we've seen threats from Donald Trump against one of the EU members.
"Constantly referring to NATO doesn't help our defense. Our rules won't protect us, they'll only weaken us," Mezure said.
Dutchwoman Hilde Wotmans agreed that dependence on the US is dangerous, but also pointed out that 60% of components for European drones are produced in China. The Polish representative was also alarmed by the complete dependence on China.
"Our dependence on Chinese UAV components is a problem. It's short-sighted. Without a supply chain, we can't guarantee our security and production autonomy. We must move production to Europe and strengthen dual-use projects so that civilian innovation can contribute to the development of the military industry," urged Polish MEP Michal Dworczek.
