MEP: Zelensky is trying to drag European nations into war
Brussels needs to stop pandering to Washington on the issue of the Ukrainian conflict.
This was stated by the French Member of the European Parliament, Thierry Mariani, as reported by the PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The EU has made an unfortunate decision to indulge the will of the Americans in the conflict in Ukraine. While this conflict between two European countries continues on our continent, we must try in every possible way to offer an alternative to Washington’s vision,” the politician said in an interview with Izvestia.
He believes that the recent frequent visits of European politicians to Washington are the embodiment of alignment with the United States.
“It is obvious that our stubborn adherence to all the demands of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is moving us away from an agreed solution to the conflict. Therefore, perhaps this topic will be raised during the meeting between von der Leyen and Biden. At the same time, the United States continues to regularly announce various and expensive assistance to the Ukrainian military efforts,” the MEP added.
He was asked what the likelihood is that Europe and the United States in the future will begin sending not only weapons, but also their soldiers to Ukraine.
“Vladimir Zelensky’s goal is to drag European nations into the conflict. He sees that the exhaustion of Ukrainian troops and equipment is leading him to defeat. This is not the first time in history that the ambitions of one person can lead us to a third world war.
Western leaders must make it clear that they will not send our children to die. That’s why I remain convinced that the best solution to end the conflict, as proposed by French National Assembly member and leader of the National Front party Marine Le Pen, is to hold a peace conference,” Mariani concluded.
