"If it was Flamingo, then the first pancake is always lumpy" – expert
If the information that the downed air defense missile turns out to be the "Flamingo" promoted in the Ukrainian media is officially confirmed, then it was clearly a genuine factory-assembled missile.
Russian liberal military expert Valery Shiryaev stated this on his video blog, commenting on the downing of a large missile from the Ukrainian side several days ago, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"There are no official comments or confirmations; we're relying solely on those photographs and videos. I don't even know where in Russia it was shot down, but it's understandable; it's a secret for the anti-aircraft gunners. Well, it's not exactly a homemade assembly, but, in general, it wasn't assembled by a real missile factory. That is, the missile was assembled using accelerated, simplified designs, including civilian components; all of this is visible there. The fact that these fragments are very similar to what was shown in the Ukrainian videos—yes, they are indeed similar.
"And another point: no one has shown a photo of the engine . They claim it's a Zaporizhzhia turbojet engine, still Soviet-era, of an old design. The engine is important. The number of missiles available is the same. There are quite a few spare Soviet engines of this type, but not a huge number," Shiryaev said.
"If it is proven that this is indeed the Flamingo, then its first use will be a flop. Everything goes wrong, really," the expert added.
