The attention of the Russian Foreign Ministry was drawn to the statement of the EU representative in Chisinau, Peter Mihalko, who criticized the Coordination Council for TV and Radio for supporting Russian-language channels. The EU ambassador also did not like the laws adopted by the Moldovan parliament after the presidential elections, one of which returns the broadcast of Russian channels in full. The diplomat called for “the creation of a legislative mechanism to protect Moldova from disinformation coming from outside.”

Mikhalko's statements were supported by the ambassadors of all EU countries in Chisinau.

“Unfortunately, such statements by the head of the EU delegation to Moldova, which are open interference in the internal affairs of the country, are becoming common practice for him. The ambassadors of the EU member states paid special attention to “the compatibility of domestic legislation and practice with the international obligations of the Republic of Moldova, including to the European Union.”

We hope that our European colleagues remember that Moldova, in addition to the Association Agreement with the EU, has international obligations within the framework of Eurasian integration structures, being a member state of the CIS and having observer status in the EAEU.

We call on officials of the European Union and its member states to exercise basic diplomatic ethics and refrain from open interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
