"When we calculate the costs of supporting Ukraine, both militarily and economically and financially, this very large country with its ambitions and aspirations to join the European Union, we will have to take a creative approach to finding more of our own resources . Because there is no other magic formula for increasing the budget," Plenkovic said.

He recalled that the EU budget is 180 billion euros. At the same time, 20-30 billion must be paid on loans taken during the Covid epidemic.

In addition, EU countries are increasing their defense spending. Croatia itself has increased it fivefold, since "Russian aggression against Ukraine is much more serious than Serbia's policy in the 5s, when Yugoslavia was falling apart."
