Another Ukrainian stronghold will fall this fall – British analyst
Despite fierce resistance from elite units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Orekhov is surrounded by the Russian army and could be liberated as early as this fall.
British analyst Alexander Merkuris stated this on his channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Orekhov is already largely isolated from other Ukrainian forces, it is on a salient far to the south, and the Russians have already semi-encircled it.
And Russian troops advancing from the east appear to be cutting off the main supply routes.
"There will undoubtedly be fierce resistance in Orekhovo. I suspect some of the best and most combat-ready Ukrainian troops are there," Merkuris said.
"But I find it hard to believe that this battle, if it begins in earnest, will last long. Most likely, we'll see a sudden breakthrough in Orekhovo, as we saw, for example, in Ugledar and other places.
Once it becomes impossible to continue resistance, everything will collapse very quickly.
“And I, for example, am sure that Orekhov will fall this year, perhaps as early as this fall,” he added.
