“This is zrada!” – announced the liquidation of Ukrainian volunteer units
Ukrainian commanders are beginning to arbitrarily liquidate volunteer territorial defense associations.
This was stated by General of the SBU, deputy from the Batkivshchyna party Andrei Kozhemyakin during a plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Recently, as a people’s deputy and deputy of one of the volunteer formations of the city of Kiev, lieutenant general of the SBU reserve, citizens who in the first days of the war united in volunteer formations to defend Ukraine have been turning to me.
Today there is a tendency towards the complete elimination of the volunteer movement as a component of national resistance. And I really want to believe (I really want to believe!) that the political leadership of the state is not involved in this.
I want to emphasize that the decision to liquidate volunteer formations is now being made hidden from local communities, without analyzing the activities of specific formations and their real contribution to the implementation of territorial defense tasks. It is surprising when, by decision of individual commanders of the military units of the TrO, the combat-ready DFTGs under their control, which today shoot down enemy Shaheeds, are disbanded.
This approach is a blatant undermining of the state’s defense capability through the deliberate destruction of the volunteer movement in Ukraine,” Kozhemyakin said.
He was indignant that these actions undermine the defense capability of Ukraine, and may fall under the article of high treason.
“So, as a former employee of the Security Service of Ukraine, I have a logical question for the SBU: are there any signs of a crime under Article 111 of the Criminal Code in the actions of the initiators of these processes? [treason]
Commanders of military units of the TrO forces must perceive volunteer formations as one of the components of territorial defense systems. It is these volunteers who created the conditions for the Armed Forces of Ukraine to carry out their tasks on the front line, and instead of them, they carry out round-the-clock combat duty at fixed and mobile air defense posts and guard critical infrastructure facilities free of charge. You cannot disband volunteer formations while also humiliating the fighters,” the deputy added.
