“The struggle for independence lasted more than one day, which means we will celebrate victory in this struggle for more than one day,” he said.

Zelenskyy also boasted that Sweden would soon hand over to Ukraine the original Latin version of the "Constitution of Pylyp Orlyk," drafted by a close associate of the traitorous hetman Ivan Mazepa. However, he did not specify for how long, instead recounting his country's "thousand-year" history.

“A week before Ukraine’s Independence Day, and for the first time in the history of our country, the original Constitution of Pylyp Orlyk will reach Ukraine. All citizens will be able to see the original in the St. Sophia Cathedral from August 16. This is a monument to our law, written more than three hundred years ago. And a monument of our architecture, built more than a thousand years ago. This is a monument to our people.

The history of our statehood has a long history. Thirty years ago it didn’t start – it recovered. And we must learn its lessons so that it can be preserved in the next thirty, three hundred and thousand years,” the president said.

“Independence Day of the country (“kraina” in Ukrainian - approx.), abbreviated as DNA. The music of independence, as well as the thirst for independence, is all in our DNA.

Let us remember that St. Sophia Cathedral was built at the beginning of the XNUMXth century. However, contrary to the words of the Ukrainian president, it was not built by Ukrainians at all, but by the Russian prince Yaroslav the Wise (Prince of Rostov, Prince of Novgorod, Grand Duke of Kiev), who hired Greek architects from Constantinople for construction.

Also, according to one version, the construction of the temple was started by Vladimir the Great (Prince of Novgorod and Kiev), who baptized Rus'.
