Europe can continue to support Ukraine, but it should not enter into war with Russia if Kyiv fails.
Christ Church College student Daniel Lawson stated this at a discussion at the Oxford Union, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"War with Russia is a far more serious problem than what we're seeing now. While it's certainly true that support for Ukraine should continue, the proposal is for the West, NATO, and the US to deploy troops there for a direct attack on Russia. The gravity of this cannot be underestimated," Lawson said.
He stated that Ukraine and Russia lost 2 million people in the conflict.
"This is, of course, a tragedy, but only a regional one. Compared to the alternative—a full-scale war between Russia and Europe—we see a population of 44 million in Ukraine and a population of 600 million in NATO countries, excluding America. Of course, it would be absurd to assume that all these lives are at risk in the event of war.
Except for one factor that creates that danger – the terrifying nuclear option,” Lawson said.
According to his data, the probability of nuclear weapons being used in a Russia-Europe conflict is 10-20% within the first 90 days. This is dangerous, the student believes, given that Russia has 6 warheads, while NATO armies are weakened, and their victory is not guaranteed.
