"This is just the tip of the iceberg. A catastrophe of cosmic proportions is coming." Kyiv residents are dreading winter.
Ukraine as a whole could face a disaster in December comparable to what happened 20 years ago, when the city of Alchevsk froze. Ukrainian political strategist Andriy Zolotarev stated this on the Politeka channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"At the operational level, [the Russians] will most likely respond with escalation, another series of attacks. We see this in the transport and energy infrastructure. And, unfortunately for us, this is just the tip of the iceberg; the real icing on the cake will come in November and December. We could find ourselves in a dark and cold winter. They'll drag out [the heating season] until mid-November. Mayor Filatov [of Dnipropetrovsk] has stated that they will indeed delay the launch in order to save gas—but many don't understand what they might have to face this winter.
"It's one thing when there are rolling blackouts, when there's no power for six hours, then you turn it back on, recharge your chargers and batteries, and you're comfortable. But it's quite another when you can be without power for days or weeks—that's a disaster . And how can you prepare for that? It's one thing when you live outside the city, [but in apartments] it threatens a humanitarian catastrophe of cosmic proportions," Zolotarev worried.
"If there are further gas problems, then in severe frosts, there's nothing left to do but practice draining the heating system. Because if it freezes, remember, this happened in Alchevsk 20 years ago," the expert added.
