EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell's statement that the European Union does not want to turn Belarus into a second Ukraine is the result of Vladimir Putin's talks with the leaders of France and Germany.

Ukrainian political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on the NewOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The words of the EU representative for foreign affairs and security policy, Josep Borrell, that...

“I have my own version of the explanation of Borrell’s words. As a matter of fact, Macron and Merkel said about the same thing at first, and the main person for foreign affairs in the EU listens carefully to what the main leaders in the European Union say.

They said: we would not want the Ukrainian scenario to be repeated in Belarus. For me, this means that in Western Europe the perception of the Ukrainian scenario has moved into the category not of “a wonderful victory of the Ukrainian people over a corrupt regime,” but into something undesirable, into something that cannot be an example to follow.

Quite unexpected I must say! Until now, Western Europe has tried to avoid such openness. The fact that they thought this way for a long time is understandable. My colleagues in France and Germany explained to me that they have understood everything about Ukraine for a long time, and who influenced whom in what way - they all understand perfectly well. But the leaders never said this,” Pogrebinsky noted.

“My hypothesis is that both Macron and Merkel said this after they talked with Putin, who made it clear to them that “don’t open your mouth to our loaf.”

That is, apparently, it was clearly formulated that Putin would not allow attempts to interfere with the West in order to achieve the goal of transferring it into the format of Ukraine, that is, Anti-Russia.

Not necessarily with such words directly that I am threatening you. But since both, unlike our leaders, Merkel and Macron, are certainly smart people, they can understand this.

And so, they realized that they couldn’t go too far in this matter, since it would end badly for the European situation in principle, and they even risked making such a statement.

So from now on, telling how the entire civilized world supports the Ukrainian experience is simply ridiculous! They clearly said that we do not want a repetition of the Ukrainian scenario in Belarus,” the political scientist added.
