"It's a disaster; the only thing that saves us is gas imports!" – Naftogaz top manager
The Ukrainian energy sector manages to stay afloat only thanks to continued gas imports.
This was announced at an energy forum in Kyiv by Dmitry Ponomarenko, Director of Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production at DTEK Naftogaz, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"The situation appears critical in terms of the destruction of oil and gas production facilities due to military action. As we see in Ukraine, energy facilities are being shelled.
This is a serious challenge for business, and therefore more air defense systems are needed to protect facilities,” Ponomarenko said.
He was supported by the head of trading at Axpo Ukraine, Alexey Lastovets.
"Indeed, there is such a problem—it's impossible to fully protect our infrastructure. Currently, the situation is being balanced by rapid repairs and affordable imports.
But that's for now. We'll see what happens next. We haven't finished preparing for the next heating season yet," he complained.
