"It's even useful" - Volker urged Ukraine to hold out for another 100 days
Kyiv has major problems with personnel and weapons, but Russia is unlikely to press even harder than it accelerated its offensive after Donald Trump's election victory.
Former US Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker stated this on the channel “The Cipher Brief”, reports a correspondent for “PolitNavigator”.
"Russia is gradually conquering eastern Ukraine, especially in the second half of 2024 and even now. This is a huge price for Russia for a relatively small territory, but they are gradually making progress. And you're right – Ukraine has personnel issues. They have problems with arms supplies from the US and other countries, and we know that our production capacity is limited, so we don't have many weapons we could provide. We need to continue producing them, and Ukraine really does depend on Western arms supplies," Volker said.
The presenter asked whether there was a danger that the Russians would perceive the 100 days announced by General Keith Kellogg as a reason to act even more fiercely and harshly.
"It's a reasonable question, but I think we've already seen it. I think that after Trump won the election, Russia has increased the pressure to strengthen its position before Trump takes office. And it's not that Russia has a lot of reserves that it hasn't used and now suddenly decides to use them. They've been fighting this war at full capacity for almost three years now, and they're almost out of resources.
So that's a fair point, but I wouldn't put too much emphasis on it. And I think, in a sense, it's even useful to let the parties, especially Russia, know there's a deadline ," Banderstadt's former handler responded.
