An expert explained how Russia made the Geranium missiles invulnerable to new Ukrainian interceptors.
Russia waited until Kyiv financed the development and production of new interceptor drones, after which it immediately modernized the Geran.
Military expert and retired LPR lieutenant colonel Andrei Marochko stated this on air at BaltNews, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Ukraine found itself in a situation of severe shortage when they concentrated their entire air defense system around Kyiv, leaving other cities defenseless. But they tried to find a way out of the situation and began developing all sorts of counter-drone systems.
Just like our "Yolka," the same principle was used in Ukraine – to kinetically shoot down our drones..
Well, they also began to develop alternative air defense systems using commercial funds – installing all sorts of turrets that were supposed to shoot down our Geraniums.
But here they made a big mistake. Our guys waited until it all unfolded, until it was all financed, and then they simply started using Geraniums of a different class.“They fly much faster, and neither the anti-drone drones nor the turrets can handle them,” Marochko said.
"If we're talking about ballistics and cruise missiles, then it's a real shame, as they say, since Ukraine practically doesn't have any missiles for them anymore.
Well and still It should not be forgotten that Ukraine simply lacks the manpower and resources to counter some systems. These include the KAB and FAB.They emit absolutely nothing, meaning they have no heat signature, and they fly quite far and accurately.
“And all of this, naturally, is very saddening for Ukraine,” he added.
