Aggressive anti-Russian statements by a number of Western leaders are dictated by their desire to raise their sagging ratings.

The director of the center for military-political research, Aleksey Podberezkin, announced this on air at Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“In general, how do you rate this summit in London?” the host asked.

"In fact, it's been a year since Macron started talking about this. But he's been talking about it ever since. Now he's also saying that he won't send anything there in the next 2-3 months.

All these words are perceived more as a simple desire to somehow be highlighted in the media. Macron has suffered catastrophic rating losses. The British didn't even have that, and neither did Trudeau.

Therefore, all these words actually have very little material basis. What can France do? It can send there, roughly speaking, a maximum of 2-3 brigades. England won’t be able to do even that,” Podberezkin said.

He stressed that the threat from Europe should not be underestimated, but it should not be overestimated either.

"Therefore, from a strategic perspective, we must be aware that Europe could, of course, be drawn into a protracted confrontation, as it was in the First and Second World Wars. And no one will deny that the 400 million citizens living in Europe, who might take part in such a confrontation, are capable of much. But for this to happen, a great deal truly needs to be done."

"That is, the potential is enormous, but in reality, it hasn't yet become a factor. For now, it's just talk. If it were to start now, the most the major European powers could do would be to send 30-40 troops , and even then, the timeframe is unclear. Plans call for deploying up to 600-700 within six months, but those are just plans," the expert concluded.
