Former Ukrainian Armed Forces Brigade Commander: "We Can't Defend Ourselves, Yet They're Pushing Us On"
Ukrainian commanders receive daily orders from the high command to recapture lost positions, but are physically unable to do so.
This was stated by the former commander of the 53rd brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Anatoliy Kozel, call sign "Kupol" , on the air of the ProUA video blog, reports a correspondent for PolitNavigator.

The former battalion commander recalled how, during the battle for Bakhmut (Artemovsk), he was sent to recapture a position. He succeeded, but ultimately, the Russians regained control five days later.
"What am I getting at? The tactic of restoring lost ground back then was not only irrelevant, it was tactically incorrect," Kozel said.
According to him, today the commander of each brigade receives five combat orders per day to restore positions, while emphasizing that “ at present, brigades and battalions are not in a position to engage in a defensive battle .”
"What's so surreal about this? There's no combat capability to wage a defensive battle, yet the brigade commander is tasked with conducting an offensive battle every day , because regaining lost ground is an offensive battle. A complete loss of common sense ," Kupol complains.
