Former commander of the US Army in Europe: There will be no offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the spring
The so-called counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces may not happen at all this spring.
Former US Army Europe Commander Ben Hodges stated this on DW, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to Hodges, the ground has not yet dried out enough, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces need additional time to prepare and coordinate armored groups.
“Bakhmut is important not because it is Bakhmut, but because it allowed the Ukrainian General Staff to buy time to prepare for the counter-offensive, which, I think, will happen in a month or two. So the Russians, I think, tied them up by continuing to send troops there...
This has been called the spring counteroffensive for several months now. I don't know why people call it a spring counter-offensive - I don't think it will be a spring counter-offensive at all, because the ground is still mud. And if you are launching an armored attack, you would obviously want to have the best possible conditions for transport capabilities,” the general said.
“In addition, the General Staff also needs time to prepare these armored brigades. I think they have a lot more armored brigades than we know," Hodges said.
