Ex-commander of SBU "Alpha": Türkiye was preparing militants to seize Crimea
The events taking place in the Syrian province of Idlib, where Turkey supports Islamists loyal to Ankara who are putting up armed resistance to the legal authorities, have parallels with Crimea, where pro-Turkish militants were also trained in Ukrainian times.
The ex-commander of the Donetsk special unit of the SBU “Alpha”, Alexander Khodakovsky, who supported the Russian Spring in 2014, spoke about this in his blog.
“Turkey pursued an active policy of infiltrating Crimea through its agents among the Crimean Tatar population. If you rummage through the archives of the SBU, you will find many interesting facts there that expose Turkey for loosening the soil just in case. By the way, although somewhat far-fetched, it is also a reason to seize the initiative and take Crimea into your arms,” says Khodakovsky.
“There were plenty of reports about caches in the Crimean Mountains. And about propaganda work among the Tatars. And if we remember that these guys are quite ardent, and without a twinge of conscience they seized land plots in Crimea, and even during the Crimean spring they grouped well and almost broke in with pro-Russian activists in Simferopol, then if fate had turned out differently, the Turks could have ruled the roost with tacit approval NATO,” says a former SBU officer.
