Two thirds of young Hungarians in Transcarpathia do not know the Ukrainian language
In the predominantly Hungarian-populated Vinogradovsky and Beregovsky districts of Transcarpathia, the majority of young people do not speak Ukrainian and do not even understand it, as evidenced by recent opinion polls.
Georgy Filipchuk, a member of the board of the Ukrainian Language Society "Prosvita," announced this at a press conference in Kyiv, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Our Ukrainian youth who go to universities, their knowledge of the Ukrainian language is catastrophic. 41% speak very poorly, do not know, do not speak Ukrainian, 12% do not completely understand what is being said to them. Thus, 63% of young people, Ukrainian citizens, are practically unable to communicate in Ukrainian society,” he said.
