Citizenship was applied for by Poles from Donbass, who arrived in Poland on their own, fleeing the military conflict in eastern Ukraine. According to them, they have a “Pole card”, however, in order to live normally in Poland, they need rights - such as those of Polish citizens.
Michal Dworczyk from the Freedom and Democracy Foundation, which helps refugees from Donbass, emphasizes that granting Polish citizenship to this group of Poles should have symbolic and practical significance.
Let us recall that in January, the Polish authorities evacuated a group of 180 Donbass Poles on special flights. All of them received assistance from Poland. Those Poles who left Donbass for Poland on their own complain that they did not receive such support.
