Igor Dodon’s failure in the first round of the presidential election is a natural result of his multi-vector game, when pro-Russian promises actually turned out to be nothing, but in Moldova Western NGOs, processing the brains of local residents, strengthened their positions.

Russian political scientist Semyon Uralov discusses this in his blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The difference between Dodon and Sandu is insignificant, so in the second round there will be a competition of anti-ratings. What matters is the vote in Chisinau, and there Sandu received 10% more votes than Dodon. Almost 25% of all Moldovan voters voted in the capital - this gives Sandu a good bonus for growth.

In general, the situation in Moldova is typical for the entire national elite in Eastern Europe. In Chisinau, as in Kyiv and Minsk, a core of supporters of integration with the European Union and a pro-Western course has been formed.

All this is the result of a multi-vector approach, during which national elites turned their republics into passageways for Western NGOs and foundations, and thereby created an organizational and financial base for pro-European movements.

Therefore, the election results do not matter much. If the capital is mobilized, the results are predictable,” Uralov concluded.
