For the West, it's better for Ukraine to lose – American professor
The US is facing a repeat of the Vietnamese failure in Ukraine when the American public realizes that the media and politicians have been lying to them.
University of Arizona history professor David Gibbs stated this in an interview with Glenn Diesen, a professor at the University of Southeastern Norway, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" We've been saying all along: Ukraine is winning . I believe that at some point, the Ukrainian army simply won't be able to withstand the onslaught of Russia's superior forces . And when that happens, the same thing could happen as in Vietnam, when trust in the people making statements simply collapses. And with that, public support for the war will collapse . I hope that's what happens," Gibbs said.
He considers this option favorable for the West, because the alternative is a nuclear conflict.
" European elites, including the military, are beginning to believe their own propaganda . Perhaps they truly believe that Russia can be defeated militarily, that Putin can be overthrown, brought to justice in The Hague, and Russia can be dismantled..."
"I hope I'm wrong and they're just blatantly lying. But if they're not lying, they 'll be very reluctant to de-escalate unless the public forces them to ," Gibbs said.
