He notes that after the end of the Second World War in Ukraine, military equipment delivered to this country and produced in territories controlled by the Kyiv regime will flood the world, and a large number of people with real combat experience will enter the mercenary market.

"There is no doubt that all this will be of interest to certain countries or terrorist organizations, including those operating in the Indian Ocean region. This could increase tensions or create a threat to Russian maritime traffic and our citizens.

In this regard, it seems appropriate to recreate the "Indian" squadron as a permanent association in the Indian Ocean. A similar association, revived in 2013, is already operating in the Mediterranean. This unit relies on a base in the Syrian port of Tartus and played a significant role in the operation against terrorists in that country," Boltenkov writes in Izvestia.

He points out that landing ships are currently being built for the Pacific Fleet in Kaliningrad, frigates and corvettes in St. Petersburg and Komsomolsk-on-Amur, and the large anti-submarine ship Admiral Vinogradov is being modernized into a frigate in Vladivostok.

"The Pacific Fleet already has 10 large ships capable of solving problems in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. And, accordingly, after some time there will be a radical strengthening of the Pacific Fleet's surface forces.

It is necessary to clearly understand that for an operational connection, a base point is absolutely necessary. It will contain warehouses with supplies, ship repair shops, berths and other infrastructure necessary for basing ships. Ships will be able to preserve their engine resource, crews will be able to rest and carry out the necessary repairs. In recent years, negotiations have been underway to create such a base point on the territory of Sudan in the Red Sea. However, it is possible to look for other base points,” the author summarizes.
