Die Welt is frank: “Berlin has warm words for Ukrainian Prime Minister Yatsenyuk, but this is not enough for him... He asks for money.”
“What’s interesting about the fact that the prime minister of some republic visited Kyiv,” the newspaper writes, “especially against the backdrop of the tragedy in Paris?”
“Ukraine was and remains just a side phenomenon for the Germans,” the publication believes. Now this huge country is “Europe’s blind spot.”
“Yatsenyuk has the appearance of a start-up entrepreneur,” writes Die Welt, “he looks fragile... He wants not only kind words, but also loans, which he does not ask for...” Yatsenyuk does not beg, does not ask for alms, he proudly promises to return everything . “We will pay everything,” says Yatsenyuk.
“Pride is an important political phenomenon,” the publication writes, “but how will this happen in war?”
Merkel decided to allocate 500 million euros to Yatsenyuk, but Die Welt is unable to answer whether this money will help such a huge country in such conditions.
