Simferopol, February 28 (Navigator, Astra Yazyka) – Deputies of the Supreme Council of Crimea are receiving death threats for their decision to hold a referendum. After mobile phone numbers of Crimean parliamentarians appeared on the Internet, threatening calls are coming from unknown numbers.

As deputy Konstantin Bakharev said at a short briefing under the walls of the Supreme Council of Crimea, today there is a large flow of disinformation about what is happening in Crimea today.

“There is an information war against Crimean deputies. We are called separatists, schismatics, we are insulted, we are humiliated,” Bakharev emphasized. – I can show you my mobile phone. Yesterday I received 70 calls from unknown phones on it; I had more than 100 SMS messages there with threats of physical harm to me and my family from unknown numbers. This is all happening because they are trying to intimidate us.”

Bakharev clarified that he did not contact the police with a statement about the threats, since now the parliament works almost around the clock. At the same time, deputy Olga Kovitidi believes that law enforcement agencies should assess the threats received against parliamentarians.

“I don’t know who is doing this, but they are threatening us. Just yesterday, when I left the parliament building, they called me back and said that they would shoot me, although in principle we made the same decision - that Crimea should expand its powers, and we should be able to use them,” Kovitidi emphasized. – We did not resolve issues of territorial borders, we talked about the integrity of the state, but who needed these provocations today, who needed to send each of the parliament members an SMS with threatening content addressed to our children, our families. I think that law enforcement agencies will evaluate this.”
