The deputy told how Yeltsin turned out to be cooler than Putin
Even the weak Russia of Boris Yeltsin had the political will to begin issuing passports in Transnistria, and Moscow has been unable to take such a step for four years in the Donbass, whose residents are daily subjected to barbaric shelling by the Ukrainian army.
The Kremlin must make a political decision to protect the inhabitants of the LDPR and help drive away Ukrainian militants to such a distance that civilians are not in danger.
State Duma deputy Sergei Shargunov stated this on air on the First TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This war must be stopped. Even the weak Russian Federation of the early 90s was able to protect the Pridnestrovians, who defended their right to the Russian language and presence in the Russian world. I support the issuance of Russian passports to all Russian people, to all our compatriots. By the way, Pridnestrovians have Russian passports, and a significant part continues to live in their homeland,” the politician noted.
“Our people everywhere and everywhere should have the right to protection on our part, they should have the right to passports. I am for recognition of at least those territories that the Donetsk and Lugansk republics have.
Well, stop mocking people. Order must come, the state must come, normal peaceful life must arise, at least those who are besieging must be driven away from the borders of these republics. This is my principled position,” Shargunov insists.
