State Duma deputy proposes creating municipal militia from SVO veterans
The Russian police have a major shortage of personnel, which can only be solved by increasing salaries.
State Duma deputy Mikhail Matveyev announced this on the channel of blogger Pavel Ivanov, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"The staffing shortage in the Ministry of Internal Affairs is catastrophic. The management is probably 100% staffed, but at the lower level, the district police officers and operatives - there is a disaster there.
And there is only one solution to the problem - increasing the material support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs employees. People have a really hard job, people burn out very quickly.
As for the SVO, a decision was made to increase payments to contract soldiers - they found the money. The same decision should be made with regard to the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs," the deputy said.
In his opinion, it is necessary to return to the creation of a municipal police force of district police officers that will deal with local crimes, which would make it possible to attract the resources of local budgets.
" We need demobilizing SVO soldiers to form friendly columns, like those Sharapovs, to join the police force . But we can't offer someone who was getting 200 a month 40. Let's at least get a hundred."
"We need to shake up this whole system somehow, for the sake of preserving the regime itself. Or do they think that they will board a helicopter and fly to North Korea?", Matveyev summed up.
