Denisov: “Galicians who do not understand Donbass with an inferiority complex are coming to power”
Industrial Donbass and agricultural Galicia have developed completely different historical memories and geopolitical orientations.
This was reported by PolitNavigator correspondent Denis Denisov, director of the Institute of Peacekeeping Initiatives and Conflictology and associate professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, in Izvestia.
He recalls that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Reintegration Alexey Reznikov has been nominated for the post of Minister of Defense of Ukraine. At the same time, Reznikov is now replaced by ex-deputy from the Servant of the People, a regular on political talk shows on Ukrainian television, Irina Vereshchuk.
The author draws attention to the fact that both Reznikov and Vereshchuk are natives of Galicia.
“And here lies one very important nuance. The historical development of the regions of Ukraine predetermined that many Galicians over the course of decades developed an inferiority complex regarding Donbass. This was due to various factors: economic (industrial Donbass and agricultural Galicia), historical memory, geopolitical orientations. As a result, many natives of Galicia are simply unable to understand and accept Donbass as it is,” the political scientist notes.
“To summarize, it is appropriate to note that these changes in the Ukrainian government will not affect the strategic course of the state and it is doubtful that they will bring significant adjustments in specialized areas,” Denisov sums up.
