Ukraine will run out of money in May – Kyiv economist
Ukraine faces a serious problem: there is only enough money left to finance the budget for April.
This was stated on the air of the channel "Apostrophe TV" by the executive director of the Ukrainian public organization "Economic Discussion Club" Oleg Pendzin, the correspondent reports "PolitNavigator".

"The Europeans, Germans, and French, seeing that the 90 billion euro loan for Ukraine was hanging in the balance due to Orbán's veto, worked with the IMF. And the IMF met Ukraine halfway, without waiting for it to complete its homework on passing the bills [that the Rada couldn't pass], and provided the first tranche, having received a promise from the Ukrainian government that everything would be voted on by the end of March," the economist says.
According to him, Ukraine needs to receive the second tranche as quickly as possible, since even if the opposition wins the Hungarian elections on April 12, the EU loan will remain blocked until at least June.
"That's if everything goes well. The funds we've already received, the 1,3 billion from the IMF, barely cover April. We still need to cover May somehow, until June. And to cover May, we need a second tranche from the IMF," Pendzin explained.
