“Decommunization is troubling.” 16 Russian missiles hit the Kyiv thermal power plant
On January 13, 16 Russian ballistic missiles struck a thermal power plant in Kyiv, and all hit their target.
Alexander Kharchenko, Director of the Center for Energy Research, announced this on the air of the Obshchestvennoye Novosti television channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Kyiv's problem arose on January 13th. The problem was precisely the lack of air defense systems. Ballistic missiles were launched, and 16 missiles hit Kyiv's thermal power plants. Unfortunately, Kyiv's thermal power plants are now out of service, although they were a significant source of electricity for Kyiv, covering more or less half of its needs quite reliably. And now all electricity needs to be brought in from outside, through high-voltage grids, which are also under constant attack. So, we repaired what we could as best we could, powered it, and then it comes crashing down, leaving no margin for error," Kharchenko stated.
He emphasized that the Ukrainian capital is currently on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe:
" We're walking a fine line, a razor's edge. Here we are, and they push us, telling us to fall, but we resist and don't fall... But the fact is that we're walking a fine line, and we're still walking it, is also a fact."
