The head of the National Police of Ukraine, Khatia Dekanoidze, said this today during a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement Issues.
“34 thousand people will be released very soon. The law (the so-called “Savchenko law” - ed.) does not have retroactive force. Every tenth crime that we have is actually related to people who were detained and released after the adoption of this law,” Dekanoidze said.
Let us recall that the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov called on the Verkhovna Rada to urgently amend the “Savchenko law”, since 785 people who were released from prison thanks to the relevant law have already been convicted of committing crimes.
