Even without Zelensky, Ukraine is rapidly drifting toward a police state – Nebozhenko
Ukraine is steadily moving towards an even greater tightening of the political regime.
Kyiv political scientist Viktor Nebozhenko, who works for former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, who is in conflict with the regime, stated this in an interview with journalist Nikolai Feldman, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The presenter noted that [dictator] Volodymyr Zelensky has no choice in the current situation except to intensify repression within the country, including against his political rivals.
"This turbulence will likely impact him the most. Therefore, his only option is to tighten his grip on power, make his absolute power even more absolute, and cement it," Feldman said.
The political scientist emphasized that the issue is not just about Zelensky.
"Ukraine itself is drifting toward a police state. That's the point. I don't know why, after 30 years of such laxness, everything is moving toward tightening, restrictions, some kind of rigid algorithms, regulation.
This is the direction things are heading. And this isn't just patriotism or Zelenskyy's desire. It coincides with his political interest in strengthening his power and a certain evolution of Ukrainian statehood. Well, I'd like to dwell on this sad conclusion," Nebozhenko concluded.
