According to RIA Melitopol, residents of the villages of Voznesenka, Mordvinovka and Konstantinovka united and blocked the Odessa-Melitopol-Novoazovsk highway, resulting in a kilometer-long traffic jam.
People called on deputies at all levels to send their children to the ATO zone, and not take rural boys away from their mothers and wives, and reproached the Ukrainian government for not being able to stop the war in the east through peaceful negotiations.
“Yes, shoot them the fuck out...” the driver shouted to a representative of the military registration and enlistment office, standing on the Odessa-Melitopol-Novoazovsk highway, which was blocked by women.
The commander of the communications and information department of the Melitopol-Veselovsky Joint Military Commissariat, Alexei Petrov, began to explain to the women that there was a war going on in the ATO zone. The dispute lasted several hours. Later, some of the protesters dispersed after it was reported that the governor was holding an emergency meeting on their issue, and some were pushed back by traffic police officers.
According to local media, after the incident, the Melitopol authorities decided that they had not done enough work - they did not explain to people what was happening and how. According to some village chairmen, the police are sowing panic: scaring people, they offer to “excuse” them from mobilization. In addition, the media are circulating information that the organizers of the protest are allegedly provocateurs. This version was voiced to journalists by the Melitopol Self-Defense, proving that the protest participants had no sons.
As Navigator reported, earlier a wave of protests swept across Western Ukraine. Most of the protests took place in the regions where military units were encircled in the Donbass.
