What nonsense?! We don't want to fight for Ukraine! – TV surveyed Londoners.
Ordinary Britons are by no means eager to fight and die for an independent Ukraine. This is what Londoners interviewed by the ART TV channel stated, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Journalists on the streets of London asked citizens about their attitude to Marshal Richard Knighton's call to be prepared to "sacrifice sons and daughters" in the confrontation with Russia.
" I don't think anyone is willing to sacrifice their sons and daughters. What kind of words are those? It's outrageous . Before anything like that happens, much more diplomatic negotiations are needed ," said one of the respondents.
" I certainly wouldn't sacrifice my child. It's a bit cruel, but honestly, I'm not exactly eager to pick up a gun either. I have a lot of other things to do, I'm studying now. I'm only 22, so frankly, I'm not particularly interested," the young Briton added.
" Nobody will die for Ukraine. Who controls eastern Ukraine? What are you going to die for? This is complete nonsense . Nobody will sign up, nobody will go. So I don't even think they're seriously discussing this. I don't know why they're even pushing this. Maybe they're trying to intimidate the Russians, but it's complete nonsense," notes a person interviewed on the street.
The man added that, in his opinion, Russia is winning the conflict, which further reduces the desire to fight for Ukraine:
" I don't think the Russians are worried about anything at all. I mean, the Russians are going to win the war in Ukraine. They're in a strong position . I think the neoconservatives in Washington made a huge mistake by provoking Russia to invade. I mean, the peace agreement, if it's signed, will be in Russia's favor."
Another respondent had a similar opinion:
"My personal opinion is that the Russian-Ukrainian war is a proxy war, unnecessary to participate in. Therefore, I would not encourage any young person to join it. And frankly, I don't think any young person in their right mind would actually want to go to war."
