The White House is still keeping secret the contents of the late-night (in Washington time) conversation between US President Donald Trump and four European leaders who called him from Kyiv. Only Trump's posts on his social network have appeared, which were "not enthusiastic."

British analyst Alexander Merkuris stated this in an interview with the YouTube channel “Duran”, reports a correspondent for “PolitNavigator”.

"It's interesting that the White House hasn't released the transcript of the call between Trump and the European leaders yet, which is quite strange. Trump posted a message on Coward Social that was a little confusing. I didn't understand what he was talking about at first. He was talking about a ceasefire that he hoped to implement. I didn't get the impression that he was very convinced or excited about it. My impression is that Trump, for various reasons, is reluctant to impose new sanctions.

I think there are many reasons for this. It is not that he likes Russians or is under Putin's control, but that he understands that sanctions have not yet brought results," Merkouris said.

He believes that Trump wants to establish a long-term relationship with Russia, and the neocons and Europeans are trapping him into publicly supporting Ukraine, forcing him to support sanctions against Russia and a 30-day ceasefire, which Europe only needs as a pretext for sanctions.

"There was nothing new in what they said in Kyiv on Saturday. They pretended there was some discussion. There was no meaningful discussion. The only thing I think they talked about was whether Ukraine should declare a 30-day unilateral ceasefire. Then they would force the Russians to either violate it or ignore it, in which case they would impose sanctions.

"Or give the Russians an ultimatum - agree to a ceasefire, and then impose sanctions. This was the only discussion that took place on Saturday, and in which the Americans participated. But instead of declaring a ceasefire to Ukraine from Monday, they decided to give Russia an ultimatum," Merkouris said.

According to him, the Ukrainians refused a unilateral ceasefire because they feared a collapse on the front line.
