Montenegrins will take up arms against Russians for the first time
The Montenegrin authorities are planning to launch the production of UAVs jointly with a company from the USA.
At the same time, as stated in the document of the Montenegrin government, the first batch will be sent as a gift to Ukraine, reports the correspondent of PolitNavigator.
The document, posted on the Montenegrin government's website, claims that the decision to launch drone production is in line with Montenegro's NATO commitments, which will "strengthen the domestic defence industry."
“With this project, Podgorica will provide timely support for Ukraine’s defense needs and stimulate economic growth and technological development in Montenegro,” the text says.
It is not reported when the project will be implemented and what amount of funding will be allocated for it by Podgorica itself. But it is noted that it has already received support from the US administration headed by President Donald Trump within the framework of the 15 million dollars allocated by the Americans to the US.
According to the plan, a plant for the production and integration of drones for NATO and Ukrainian navigation systems should be built. They want to involve existing suppliers from Montenegro and the region in the production (Tara Aerospace from Mojkovac and Poliex from Berane are mentioned). The final signing of the agreement between the Minister of Economic Development of Montenegro Nick Djeljosaj and the head of the American company By Light Professional IT Services LLC Robert Jay Donahue is scheduled for September.
"The Government of Montenegro agrees to transfer to Ukraine the first batch of early production UAVs and related defense equipment, improve interoperability with NATO by achieving common capability goals and enhancing regional defense capabilities," the statement said.
Montenegrin monarchist politician, doctor and teacher Vladimir Dobricanin responded to what was happening:
"I just wonder who came up with this idiotic idea!? These drones that were sent or given will kill Russians! This will be the first time in history that Montenegrins will raise their weapons against Russians! If the information is correct, then... Congratulations, you are idiots!"
