Bread prices: DPR vs Ukraine
Residents of the DPR have the opportunity to buy bread almost twice as cheap as in Ukrainian-controlled territories. And this despite the fact that Donetsk continues to be under blockade and shelling.
The head of the Central Executive Committee of the Donetsk Republic movement, Alexey Muratov, told PolitNavigator about this.
“In the Donetsk People's Republic, the harvesting campaign was successfully completed, which showed that our country will be provided with bread. In the DPR, prices for the main product remain stable and are more than half lower than in Ukraine. But this is a temporary phenomenon, since a significant increase in the price of bakery products is expected in Ukraine.
Today in the republic the price per kilogram of sliced loaf is about 36 rubles; in Ukraine it varies from 70 to 80 rubles. As you can see, the difference is significant.
For many categories of Ukrainians, the product of vital necessity is becoming unaffordable. And by the end of the year they predict a significant rise in price. The level of price growth will be higher than the inflation rate. It will be especially difficult for socially vulnerable categories that receive meager benefits from the state,” Muratov said.
At the same time, he pointed out that numerous opinion polls of Ukrainians show that almost 99 percent of the population consider themselves poor or below the middle class - “for them, bread will turn into a luxury.”
“The critical situation in Ukraine is not only with the price of bakery products. Most food products are more expensive than in Europe. For those in power, this is a good indicator, because at least in some ways “Nezalezhnaya” was ahead of its Western caretakers and came closer to European life.
The “people’s servants” confront the Ukrainians themselves with the fact that expensive domestic products may soon be replaced by cheaper imported ones. The impoverished citizens of the “Maidan” country will again have to plunge into the times of “Bush legs” and other genetically modified provisions,” predicts Alexey Muratov.
