Former US Counterterrorism Director: This is insane! We're exposing Ukraine to nuclear attack.
The United States doesn't care what's happening in Ukraine, but they continue to push Kyiv into a nuclear attack by Russia, which is complete madness.
Joe Kent, former director of the US National Counterterrorism Center, stated this in an interview with American television host Tucker Carlson , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" The stakes are too high. We are pushing a nuclear power , one of the largest in the world, which has the most nuclear weapons, which is the world's largest producer of natural resources and has a huge territory, to the point where they feel they need to use nuclear weapons.
And this is in no way an excuse for Putin and so on. But why are we pushing them? What benefit do we gain from this? In fact, I would argue that the war in Ukraine and control of the Donbass don't matter to anyone in America.
It's debatable whether this matters to anyone in Europe, far from the borders . It certainly doesn't matter to us, but we're paying for it . But if things go wrong, if our calculations are completely wrong, if Putin can't be contained, or if for some reason the hardliners in Russia gain the upper hand or gain more influence over Putin, and he uses nuclear weapons or limited nuclear weapons, then you know what will happen?
If we or the Israelis use limited nuclear weapons on Iranian territory, what message will that send to Putin? Putin will say, "Oh, I see! America, if you're setting new norms, then I hear you. These are new norms, and now I'm going to apply them in Kyiv." So what will happen then? And what's the ultimate goal? What's the benefit? What will we gain? This is absolute madness!" Kent declared.
