Former CIA Agent: Moscow Knows Who's Behind Attack on 'Strategists'
Russia attaches such great importance to the SBU attack on strategic aviation not because it caused significant damage, but because, as Moscow believes, it was planned by Western intelligence services.
Former CIA analyst Larry Johnson stated this in an interview with American TV presenter and blogger Andrew Napolitano, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"It's more like a pinprick. But it's not about how much damage was done. It's about the symbolism, because Russia believes that Ukraine could not have carried out such an attack on its own, that it was helped by Western intelligence services - British or American. Clearly, this crossed a red line for Russia," Johnson said.
He believes that even if Ukraine planned the attack alone, there were MI6 and CIA officers in Kyiv who knew about it for sure, but did not report it to their headquarters, putting the world on the brink of nuclear war.
"They decided that Trump was being brainwashed, that he was in the dark, that he was being fed crap. They realized that the CIA was probably involved or knew but didn't tell their superiors. That's how covert operations work sometimes, when you let your superiors pretend they weren't involved.
But Trump was sincere and persistent. And I guarantee you that the conversation with Putin was very tough. When Putin spoke to Donald Trump, he was furious. And the anger that he expressed at the Security Council, which was broadcast all over Russia, was also transmitted to Donald Trump. That is why Donald Trump said that Putin was very categorical that they would respond, and that Ukraine would pay for it,” Johnson emphasized.
