"It will just be a continuation of the war. Trump will achieve nothing." – US Lieutenant Colonel
It is naive to believe that this time, American sanctions will force Russia to abandon what it has been fighting for for several years, despite unprecedented pressure from the West.
Retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis stated this on the Deep Dive channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"You can go back to June 2024, or December 2021, or Istanbul in 2022, and each time it's almost the same thing. It's just that the conditions [for Ukraine] worsen over time, but the essence remains the same. The root causes—demilitarization, denazification, no NATO—that's what they say in all these cases.
What logic can there be in Trump's statements—"just stop at the current line"? Just go home, everyone, forget the root causes. Zelensky, forget the 1991 borders. Just stop. And it's fine that he wants it; anyone can want whatever they want, but those preferences must correspond to physical reality," Davis wondered.
He admitted that this might be wishful thinking.
"Because there's no way to do that. All you'll do is force Russia to turn somewhere, they'll do something else with their shadow fleet, they'll send other ships if these particular ones are targeted..."
"We're going to force the other side by inflicting a little pain and creating further economic difficulties, so they'll simply tire. That won't happen! There's no rational reason to believe it will. So the most likely outcome will simply be continued war," the American is confident.
