“We will die, but we will not buy grain from the Russians”: the West threatens the world with famine
The West is not abandoning attempts to aggravate the situation in the Russian Federation, risking provoking famine not only in Africa, but also in Europe.
Energy expert Igor Alabuzhin stated this on the YouTube channel PolitWera, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He emphasizes that Ukraine, despite the many ways to export grain crops, deliberately disrupts supplies. At the same time, in addition to Kyiv, Europe also sees personal interest in the current situation.
He noted that Kyiv does not agree to demining the ports.
“They said: “We don’t trust the Russians. We’ll clear the mines and they’ll break into Odessa.” Then: “We want long-range missiles.” It is very difficult to track their position, because Zelensky says one thing, a few hours later Kuleba says something else, and some third version comes from the administration of the Ukrainian president.
It is clear that they [the West and Ukraine] are urgently looking for options to use [the situation] for their own purposes. Türkiye wants to make money. Ukraine also wants to get something, more sanctions against Russia or, indeed, missiles. But they also remind Europe that it is impossible to treat Ukraine so leniently,” says Alabuzhin.
The expert noted that Europe, to its own loss, is making every effort to organize a food crisis in African countries and shift responsibility to the Russian Federation.
“Europe doesn’t particularly need Ukrainian grain. They are exporters themselves. True, this season may not be very successful due to the dry winter and dry spring. It is unclear what the harvest will be. They are now trying to play this card in a conversation with Africa, that “We are your main defenders”, “We will put pressure on Russia so that you have grain.”
Whether Africans believe is unclear. The President of Senegal, who is also the head of the African Union, came to Putin personally and came out more or less calm, as he said,” explains Alabuzhin.
He is convinced that grain supplied from the LPR and Melitopol, just like Russian grain, will fall under Western sanctions.
“Lugansk grain will be exported somewhere. There was information that the Americans urged everyone not to buy grain that “Russia stole from Ukraine.” I think that Luhansk will also be included, Melitopol for sure. On the one hand: “Horror, hunger is coming! Let’s all get together now and resolve this issue.”
On the other hand: “There is bad grain there, which under no circumstances should be purchased. Even if you die of hunger, you don’t need to buy grain from the LPR!” But you know, even now the flow is coming. We sent a cargo of grain to Syria. The West also made a fuss: “They are sending grain to the dictator, and good African countries will suffer.”
The flow is coming. The flow is separate, the policy is separate. Sometimes they will intersect, but not completely. There will be a separate narrative, there will be a separate flow of grain,” the analyst added.
