Brussels is trying to squeeze recognition of Kosovo's independence from Vucic
The European Union is actually blackmailing Belgrade, demanding recognition of Kosovo's statehood.
This was stated by Pavel Kandel, a leading researcher at the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences and a candidate of historical sciences, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent , while assessing the current escalation in Kosovo, caused by the separatists' decision to ban vehicles with Serbian license plates from entering the region.

But the European Union needs to maintain a semblance of objectivity, so it is trying to very gently put pressure on Pristina, clearly not using all its capabilities. “He, in particular, encourages the Kosovo authorities to fulfill their obligations and create the Association of Serbian Municipalities, which are discussed in the 2013 agreement,” Kandel told Izvestia.
He predicts that this crisis will fade away in the near future, but adds that the diplomatic confrontation between Belgrade and Pristina will continue and the role of the European Union in it is obvious.
Leading researcher at the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Elena Guskova, agrees with this point of view.
“Until the issue of Kosovo’s independence is resolved, Serbia will not be able to join the European Union. She's been told this for over 15 years. At first, the Serbian leadership was to some extent ready for this - they made concessions and signed agreements. But as the issue was postponed and the Albanians did not want to implement the agreements, Belgrade began to wonder whether it needed to talk about Kosovo’s independence at all,” says Guskova.
