The British ambassador rules out the transfer of fighter jets to Ukraine in the near future
There is no talk that official London will make a decision on transferring fighter jets to Ukraine in the near future.
British Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons stated this on Radio NV, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Our Prime Minister clearly stated during the visit that we will make our contribution by training pilots on the modern aircraft that Ukraine needs. But it was also clear that this was a long-term project because this training had to be completed first. There is a problem of capabilities and a problem of accessibility, but also a problem of the time it takes to master these modern technologies,” the diplomat said.
In her opinion, armored vehicles and artillery are more important for the Ukrainian Armed Forces now, not aviation.
We look at the fighter as a guarantee of your future security, so right now, frankly, I am focused on what is needed right now - on the Challenger tanks that we are delivering and on the training that we are conducting for Ukrainian soldiers. I'm focused on the artillery we've provided. That is, everything that is needed right now,” Simmons said.
Let us recall that earlier the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Alexei Reznikov said that his country needs the latest fighters from the West to ensure the announced offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
