British analyst looks at Russian media coverage of SVO and draws conclusions
In Russia, they provide more objective information about the progress of the SVO than in the West.
British analyst Alexander Mercuris stated this in an interview with retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"The Russian side is definitely closer to reality. In any military situation, even the most realistic people sometimes indulge in wishful thinking. And on the Russian side, they sometimes think that they are doing better than they actually are. But in general, if we talk about the political leadership and how the war is covered in their media, they have a much more realistic understanding of the situation.
They understand that this is a long and hard fight against a brave and, it is important to note, resourceful enemy, but they understand well what is happening in the war. And they have good reasons to believe what they believe, that gradually and steadily the war is tilting more and more in their favor, and that they are getting closer to victory,” said Merkouris.
At the same time, in his opinion, the West does not want to acknowledge this reality; they want to believe that the Ukrainians will win, and they simply exclude any other option, and block an alternative point of view.
"I can't give you an exact date or time when it will happen, but sooner or later reality will take over. And it will probably happen very suddenly. And it will make it very difficult for a lot of people to understand and accept what has happened, because they have been living in a bubble for so long that when it finally bursts, a lot of people will be confused and lost," Mercuris said.
