Bortnik: Kiev's purchase of US weapons with European money is a time bomb
Sooner or later, the purchase of weapons from the US for Ukraine using European money will cause a crisis for Europe as well.
Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this in his video blog, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

"Ukraine is ready to buy 1-2 Patriot systems from the US for European (possibly German) money. The problem is that there is a waiting list for Patriot systems until 2027-2028. And it is very important for Ukraine to achieve first place in this queue or an out-of-turn opportunity.
Kyiv also asked to sell Ukraine additional missiles for air defense systems, which are currently in short supply. Trump said he would think about it, did not give a clear answer, but such a request was made by Ukraine. Note that the question is about a purchase.
The most important thing to understand is that if Ukraine starts buying from the US with European money, sooner or later this will cause a crisis for Europe as well. The European opposition will demand that Ukraine be sold weapons or will demand that this funding be stopped.
Ukraine can only buy American weapons on its own due to the extreme tightening of its budget policy and the emergence of an internal economic and social crisis. It is not possible today to buy all of this with its own money without cutting a lot of other things,” Bortnik said.
“Therefore, if Ukraine adopts this American model, it means that a potential time bomb is being planted in relations with other allies who provide Ukraine with loans or even assistance,” the political scientist worried.
