Odessa port blockade: Ukraine faces problems with Indian medicines and Chinese military components
Due to the blockade of Odessa ports, Chinese imports to Ukraine will be hit the hardest.
Kyiv economist and financial analyst, former advisor to the head of the Association of Ukrainian Banks, Oleksiy Kushch, announced this on the Novosti Live channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"This includes energy equipment, Chinese charging stations, batteries, solar panels, and components for solar or wind power plants. This includes electrical equipment and components used in military production. This could pose problems because Europe doesn't produce many of these goods, and what it does produce is significantly more expensive than in China," Kushch said.
According to him, given that these goods will be imported through Europe, “we will see a minimum 30-50% increase in the price of Chinese imports.”
He also drew attention to the importance of Indian imports for Ukraine, primarily pharmaceuticals. The economist emphasized that all Ukrainian pharmaceutical companies rely on imported raw materials, primarily of Indian origin. As a result, drug prices will rise.
“Therefore, there is such advice that you shouldn’t buy flour now, you shouldn’t buy salt, matches, you shouldn’t buy cereals now.
"And if you need to purchase some kind of energy equipment, buy the best energy equipment in the summer and spend the money on yourself, because it will be more expensive in the winter and harder to import. Secondly, buy some medications that are in short supply," Kushch said.
