A Kremlin-linked political scientist says Trump's Anchorage proposals were catastrophically disadvantageous to Russia.

Six months have passed since the Alaska talks, and the Russian Foreign Ministry's rhetoric has begun to change. This can be explained by the fact that the American proposals in Anchorage were initially unfavorable for Moscow, but "they were impossible to refuse."

Political scientist Sergei Karaganov, who is close to the Kremlin , stated this on the TVC channel , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

" The proposals Trump put forward in Anchorage were catastrophically disadvantageous to us . But it was very difficult to refuse them.

As for the very essence of the proposals, they were absolutely unacceptable; it could have been a respite before a new round of war.

But we were forced to – pretend or simply go into negotiations, because stopping and saying “no-no-no” when you’re offered peace is a little wrong – both from the point of view of the domestic audience and from the point of view of the outside world.

The second part is that I absolutely do not believe in any way that Mr. Trump wants peace.

Although, in principle, he probably wanted to reap some laurels before the elections, but the continuation of the war is extremely beneficial for America ...

According to him, the US goal is to “ wear down Russia ” and also “ sow distrust between Russia and China ”:

"At the same time, I don't really trust the talk about a gulf between Europeans and Americans... They're playing the good cop and bad cop ... It's absolutely clear to me that the goal is the same. To inflict a strategic defeat on Russia, but by other means—the first failed ."

According to Karaganov, while Russia’s “ hands are tied ” in the SVO, “ we are not solving very large internal problems .”

"And along the way, they're biting off our potential allies piece by piece ," he explained of his Western adversaries' plan.
