An expert close to the Kremlin: The war could become endless. Nothing is certain anymore.
Russia expects an escalation of hostilities in the coming months.
This was stated by Fyodor Lukyanov , an international political scientist close to the Kremlin, on the channel of Norwegian political scientist Glenn Diesen , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"I think, unfortunately, in the next couple of months, we shouldn't expect anything other than an intensification of hostilities and further escalation . There's a very clear understanding on the Ukrainian side – they can continue to cooperate, ideally with the Americans, but at a minimum, with the Europeans against Russia."
Paradoxically, in Ukraine's case, I can even understand it. I have absolutely no sympathy for them, but I understand that for Zelenskyy and his entire team, this could be rational.
The behavior of the Europeans seems less rational to me , because they voluntarily made Ukraine and the war with Russia the core of the entire idea of the newly emerged or emerging European Union.
“That is, it must be a permanent confrontation with Russia, based on Ukraine’s ability to fight and on Europe’s ability to financially and technically support this struggle, possibly indefinitely ,” Lukyanov reasoned.
" The Europeans clearly don't want to get directly involved in this war , I hope. But at the same time, when I hear statements from some European politicians, particularly German ones, I have my doubts : perhaps they, too, are preparing for a real war. I hope not.
But now nothing can be guaranteed. European unity is now largely based on the existence of this "Russian threat ," the political scientist added.
