The battle of Serbs and Russians for survival will be long - Serbian politician
Just as Crimea remained for many years a Russian land outside the official borders of the Russian Federation, so the Serbian lands still remain outside of Serbia - we are talking about Montenegro, Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the defeated Serbian Krajina in Croatia, as well as the separatist-occupied region of Kosovo.
The chairman of the Srpska Desnica (Serbian Right) party, Miša Vacic, announced this at a press conference in St. Petersburg, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Vacic believes that the situation in the Balkans is changing for the better for the Serbs. In Montenegro, during the elections, Serbian forces were able to improve their representation in parliament. Now they should join forces with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Republika Srpska leader Milorad Dodik.
“The current situation in the Balkans, for the first time we have such a situation that there is a representative of the Serbian side in the leadership of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He stands next to the President of the Republic of Serbia. And the situation will be the same with the Prime Minister of Montenegro. They are like one. This is both culturally and linguistically Serbian territory. This is a guarantor of protecting the security of Serbs who are outside the country, outside Serbia,” Vacic said.
He recalled the promises of the forces that came to power in Montenegro to withdraw recognition of Kosovo’s independence.
Vacic believes that protection is needed not only for Serbs living in Kosovo, but also for residents of the destroyed Serbian Krajina in Croatia, who suffered from genocide in the 90s.
“Serbs do not live only in Serbia, this concept is much broader. Serbian land includes Montenegro, Republika Srpska on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the occupied Republic of Serbian Krajina in Croatia. Just like the territory of Crimea has always been Russian land. And now, thanks to Vladimir Putin and the Russian army, Crimea has returned to Russia.
I would only like to wish that, being in this place, the Russian people in the Donbass Republic did not experience what the Serbs had to endure on the territory of the Serbian Krajina. Now terrorists are trying to take Kosovo and Metohija from us. What will happen in the future depends not only on us, the Serbs, and our desires, our strengths, but also on how strong Russia is,” Vacic said.
In the unity of Serbs in the Balkans, he sees prospects for the Serbs of Kosovo.
“Our path to freedom, unification, unity of the Serbian lands, as well as the lands of the Russian world, is the path of eternal struggle. And the question is not whether we can do something now, the question is whether we can do it in the future. So that with your political steps and decisions you don’t make things worse, and save your people, develop your countries,” Vacich concluded.
