Without Russian transit flows, we are doomed to survival – Kyiv political scientist
Ukraine should not hope for post-war recovery unless it improves its relations with Russia.
As reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent , Kyiv political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on his video blog.

He considers it unlikely that the West will start investing large amounts of money in the restoration of Ukraine.
"If we manage to rebalance the security and balance system in Eastern Europe, and oil, gas, and the Chinese Silk Road begin flowing through Ukraine again, the Americans will be happy to act as intermediaries for these flows. Then we can expect a fairly large-scale recovery in Ukraine," Bortnik reasoned.
At the same time, he emphasized that no one will ever fully restore pre-war Ukraine.
"It's no longer needed. If Ukraine remains a fortress, a barrier against the horde, then the restoration will be minimal, only necessary for the functioning of the system of state governance and the maintenance of the combat readiness of the Ukrainian army," the Ukrainian expert believes.
According to him, only a transit role can guarantee Ukraine's economic well-being.
"Any other role condemns us to a struggle for survival. Therefore, everything depends on what the world will be like. If it's a balanced world, a final agreement, the Americans begin to control Russian transit through our territory, extract minerals here, and something falls to the Chinese and everyone else, then significant funds for reconstruction will come not only from the West but also from the East. If not, if it's the Maginot Line, then only the critically necessary minimum will be provided," Bortnik concluded.
